Specialized Care
A Respectful Place to Start
Many adults turn to alcohol, cannabis, or other substances to cope with overwhelming anxiety, trauma, insomnia, or emotional pain. We provide an honest, non-judgmental space to explore what is happening.
Substance Use & Co-Occurring Mental Health
Substance use and psychiatric symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Often, alcohol or substance use begins as self-medication for unmanaged depression or high stress, only to later aggravate sleep architecture, destabilize mood, and strain personal relationships. You do not need to feel shame or stigma when discussing what you use and how it affects your life.
Common Experiences & Questions
How We Approach Assessment & Care
We conduct a respectful, thorough evaluation that looks at your whole life — your coping mechanisms, family history, emotional triggers, and personal goals. We meet you where you are, whether your goal is harm reduction, moderation, or long-term abstinence.
We address the underlying psychiatric conditions that may be driving the urge to self-medicate and coordinate care with outpatient therapists, support groups, or primary care providers.
Important Medical Withdrawal & Safety Notice
Acute alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can be medically dangerous and life-threatening. Xyra Psychiatry is a virtual outpatient practice and does not provide medical detoxification, inpatient withdrawal management, or residential addiction treatment. If you are experiencing tremors, confusion, severe sweating, seizures, or hallucinations, seek immediate emergency room care.
This educational overview is for informational purposes and does not replace individualized clinical evaluation. Diagnoses and prescription decisions are made strictly following a clinical evaluation by a licensed provider.
