Medication Decisions Made Together

Psychiatric medication is a tool to support your goals, not a replacement for understanding your life. We believe in collaborative, respectful prescribing where your voice and comfort guide every step.

Our Prescribing Philosophy

Starting, adjusting, or discontinuing psychiatric medication can bring up valid questions and anxieties. At Xyra Psychiatry, you are never rushed into a prescription. Grace Njie brings more than 30 years of nursing experience to her practice as a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, ensuring medical safety and holistic understanding.

What Medication Management Entails

Comprehensive review of current and past psychiatric and medical medications
Screening for drug-drug interactions, contraindications, and sensitivities
Clear discussions about expected benefits, potential side effects, and timelines
Conservative, 'start low and go slow' dosing strategies tailored to you
Regular follow-up appointments to evaluate efficacy and make adjustments
Deprescribing or safely tapering medications that are no longer serving you

Collaborative Follow-Up & Ongoing Care

Follow-up visits are vital. They allow us to review how your body and mind are adapting to treatment, manage any unwanted side effects early, and optimize your dosage. Your feedback is the most important data point in our care plan.

Prescriptions are always based on the provider's independent clinical evaluation and medical judgment. We communicate directly with your pharmacy across Texas to ensure smooth refills and continuous care.

Clinical Scope & Regulatory Compliance

Prescription of controlled substances is conducted in strict compliance with Texas Medical Board and Board of Nursing regulations and federal DEA rules. Prescriptions are never guaranteed and require a complete clinical evaluation and participation in the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program.

This educational overview is for informational purposes and does not replace individualized clinical evaluation. Diagnoses and prescription decisions are made strictly following a clinical evaluation by a licensed provider.
